A Sad Farewell
I've been sitting here, writing and re-writing this post for several days now. The time has come to post my thoughts and reserve the right to revise and extend at a later date.
A week ago, I regrettably had to leave a job that I truely enjoyed. To quote the old song ".....a victim of life's circumstances....."; it all boiled down to having to do what must be done. It sucks being a grown-up sometimes. It was agonizing to do so, and I am still plagued with doubt about the decision. Being hopelessly optimistic, I am confident that it will all work out in the long run.
Although I was only there a short while, I had never felt so at home in my entire career. Shortly after starting the job in the River City, a friend asked me to compare the job to my previous position. The answer was simple: at my previous job, it was all about competition (with one's fellow worker-bees), while at DJ it was all about competency. If you're keeping score at home, sportsfans, that's a major difference.
To the good people I have left behind, farewell. I wish you all nothing but the brightest and best future. As things go in this crazy business, I'm confident that our paths will cross again somewhere down the road.
